LAZAR FINKER

Philanthropist, Business Leader, and Musician

Lazar’s Early Life

Lazar Finker is an entrepreneur, academic, and avid philanthropist with executive-level leadership experience across multiple industries. He is also an accomplished musician who plays multiple instruments and is a particularly gifted violinist.

Born in 1952, Lazar is originally from Kazan, Russia. Highly educated, he holds a Masters of Arts from the Kazan Academy of Culture and Arts, a Ph.D. in Education from the Academy of Pedagogical Science, and a Masters of Law degree from the Kazan State University. Notably, he founded his native country’s first community college.

In the early 1990’s, Florida Community College invited Lazar to join their faculty temporarily as a visiting professor. Lazar accepted and relocated with his wife and child. His success in the classroom earned him repeated requests to remain with the institution in the United States, and soon his family had established a new home for themselves.

Finding a Home In America

Lazar, Raissa, & several other founding partners began a venture that leveraged their intercultural fluency and considerable business acumen. By collaborating with the partners as spearheaded by Raissa as CEO of United States Operations, their new company propelled to the height of prominence as a major player in one of the most extensive barter networks active in the Post-Soviet states before evolving into the third largest privately-owned natural gas producers by output. After selling their equity in the business in 2012, Lazar and his wife chose to focus on domestic investments. Today, they manage a large private equity firm, Forum Capital Group.

Outside of the workplace, Lazar is heavily involved with his local Jewish community. He was also a driving force behind the development of the Finker-Frenkel Legacy Foundation, which supports causes such as medical research, education, religious development, and children’s welfare. Lazar’s support extends to a number of additional organizations, including Miami Jewish Health Systems, The Make-A-Wish Foundation, Mount Sinai Medical Center, the University of Miami, Bascom-Palmer Eye Institute, Police Officer Assistance Trust, a Jewish Orphanage in Moscow, and Chabad of Southside.

Avid travelers, Lazar Finker and his wife are currently located in Jacksonville, Florida. They have two sons.
